Pupil scoops a selection of prizes in a national equestrian competition

A Blessed Robert Sutton Catholic Voluntary Academy pupil scooped a selection of prizes in a national equestrian competition.

Caitlin competed at Aintree Racecourse over a weekend after winning multiple regional events.

Along with show pony Polly, she was placed 10th in her first class on the Saturday, then with an early 7.30am class on Sunday, the pair went on to win The Burghwallis Stud Best Turned Out Championship and trophy.

With over 850 entries, there were only 30 Showing Champion titles on offer over the course of the weekend.

The youngster has been riding for seven years and has been a member of the Athestone and District Riding Club for over a year. Caitlin competes with Polly who is 11-years-old.

She said: “I loved the whole experience and I thought Polly looked great in the spotlights. I would love to go to the Horse of the Year show or to Olympia.”

This was the first competition on a national scale that Caitlin has undertaken.
