Important update regarding half term

Dear Parents/Carers

I hope everyone has had a restful weekend. I would like to reiterate my thanks for the ongoing support that families are providing and the way that we continue to work in partnership to make sure that all students are able to access their learning at this time. As well as teachers planning the best lessons possible I know that our pastoral team are working tirelessly with families to put in place arrangements specific to their individual circumstances. As ever please do not hesitate to contact school if you need any support.

I am sure you will have seen the latest news about school’s reopening. We are disappointed we can’t open sooner but at least we have some idea of a possible date. It is still not clear whether all students will be back on 8th March or it will be a phased return with maybe year 11 back first. We will plan for all eventualities and let you know more as soon as we can.

As promised we continue to reflect and refine our online provision to ensure that we support families in all ways possible to engage with home learning. Students from Year 11 all the way down to Year 7 continue to engage well with these lessons, showing determination and resilience which is admirable.

As part of our process of reflection and continuous improvement we would like some feedback on the online learning experience from the perspective of parents/carers and would be most grateful if you could spend a few minutes completed an online questionnaire. The link can be accessed below –

We’ll start this final week of the half term with a few updates –

I thought it worth clarifying for everyone that, further to instructions from the DfE, school will be closed to all students over the half-term holiday. Both our Keyworker School and Virtual School will be closed from Friday 12th February.

Friday 12th February is the St. Ralph Sherwin Catholic Multi Academy Trust Inset Day.

Monday 22nd February is our school planned INSET days.

Therefore our Keyworker School and Virtual School will reopen again on Tuesday 23rd February 2021.

Year 9: Key Stage 4 Progression/Options

Year 9 will shortly be receiving an Options Pathway booklet through the post which outlines the details regarding course combinations, subject information and the process for making selections. We will also shortly be launching our Year 9 pathway webpage which has been specifically created for your child this year to help provide further information due to these unprecedented times that we find ourselves in.

Year 11

The national consultation about how the teacher assessed grades will be awarded this year for years 11 finished last week and we expect the results just after half term. Some time during the week beginning 22 February 2021, the Government will publish plans for reopening school. Around this date the DfE will also be publishing plans for exactly how the grading process will roll out, as and when we know more we will arrange a parents information evening and parents evening.
