Last week I set out our three key areas of focus over the next few weeks:
- Ensuring that school is as safe as it can possibly be before staff and any students return. We will comply with all national guidance and will be transparent with staff and parents in terms of all we have and will continue to do in this regard.
- Developing the best possible plan for Year 10 to safely support their online learning with time in school if possible. Our aim is to begin some face to face contact as soon as we safely do so. Careful planning is ongoing in this regard.
- Understanding that for the majority of students in our school, those in Year 7, 8 and 9, (as well as those in Y11 and 13 who were due to sit exams this summer) we will not see them in school until September. I appreciate the demands and worries this brings and these students continue to occupy much of my thinking. As such as well as continuing to provide high quality on line learning resources we will supplement these in the weeks to come with additional support to complete home learning, regular check ins with all students and where possible more interactive resources and activities.
As per my updates last week I want to assure you that despite the emphasis being on the primary sector at this stage the leadership team at Robert Sutton are focused on planning for the secondary guidance. Once we received the full details from the government and guidance from the Department for Education we will be in a position to finalise our plans and communicate them clearly with you all. We will be carefully analysing all aspects of the guidance against the logistics of our site with a key objective at the forefront of our minds: ensuring we can keep both students and staff safe whilst they receive a quality learning experience that enhances their remote offer. We will continue to keep you informed of our plans so you are able to make an informed decision as to whether you would like your child to access the ‘face to face’ contact should they be in Year 10. Parents of Year 10 should read the letter issued last week here:
I am looking to run a Parents Forum over MS Teams:
