Blessed Robert Sutton Sports Partnership
Following our first year of successful support to schools in East Staffordshire we are delighted to be able to continue to offer a programme of support to primary schools in the area.
We now have 20 schools who we are working closely with to enhance the delivery of PE and school sport and to support the delivery of the sport premium funding. A list of our partnership schools is included at the end of this report. We are also still actively engaging with schools and believe additional schools will join the partnership during this academic year.
Support to schools includes the coordination of CPD, curriculum support, leadership training, gifted and talented support and an annual competition calendar providing opportunities for pupils from key stage 1 to Key stage 6.
We have also been fortunate to identify a number of secondary PE specialists who will work with the teachers in primary schools to help ensure high quality delivery of PE. Our CPD programme will also look at the delivery of outstanding physical education lessons at primary level which will help raise standards.
In addition to the sports partnership, Blessed Robert Sutton will continue to act as the Youth Sports Trust lead school for leadership, coaching and volunteering for Staffordshire providing opportunities for students to develop into competent sports leaders and gain nationally recognised qualifications.
I am also delighted that we have recently been awarded the status of a Youth Sports Trust Watersports hub school and will be working with Canoe England and British Rowing to offer a new sporting experience to both students at Robert Sutton and our partner schools. There will be opportunities for students to participate in land and water based activities over the course of the year.
Whilst there are many changes in education I think this is a really exciting time for the partnership and we are delighted to be able to support and influence so many schools and young people in the area.
