What's on - in school (14 day Summary)

Letter from the DSC:

Dear Tony,

I am writing to congratulate you on the outcome of your recent inspections. It is a pleasure to read a Section 5 report which in its first paragraph makes note of such a clear understanding of the purpose of education in a faith setting.

Please pass on my thanks and those of Bishop Malcolm, to your staff and governors for all the hard work that they put in every day. I am sure you must be very proud of your school community and I would like to thank you for all you do as Headteacher of the school and for your contribution to the work of the diocese in fulfilling its mission.

Yours sincerely

Gail Neill
Director

BT’s Big Voice was a national competition where groups of pupils had to think of ways the Olympics would promote community cohesion, or improve the community. They then had to think up and write a treatment for a film (with any resources, storyboards and other information added). A letter also had to be written and attached with their treatment explaining why their film should be made. The project used a range of PLTS, literacy skills, encouraged group work and was completed during four Guidance lessons and pupils’ own time.

Nationally, out of 36 places, Blessed Robert Sutton, amazingly, got two teams through to the final round and their ideas were made into short films by a film crew. Attached to the link is the two completed films (‘Chimalsi’ and ‘Smashed’) and at the end of them the pupils involved and the school are credited. There is also the opportunity to vote for your favourite film out of the final 36. These will be shown nationally in the run up to the Olympics.

Chimalsi

Smashed

Robert Sutton’s Got Talent has been postponed until further notice.
